Te Kawenata Tamariki o Waitaha sets out eight expectations for organisations working with tamariki and rangatahi across Canterbury. These are designed by tamariki, endorsed by mana whenua, and set priorities for people who work with and provide services to them.
Uia Ngā Pou is the initiative that establishes Te Kawenata Tamariki o Waitaha. It is the call to action for organisations to develop their cultural responsiveness and capability when working with tamariki, and towards meeting the expectations of the Charter:
Whānau and hapū of Ngāi Tūāhuriri have identified the values and practices expected of individuals and organisations working with tamariki and mokopuna.
